There are so many thoughts going through my mind that I decided the best way to go about expressing them without a character limitation would be to get this message posted on the FXP website. I tried to figure out how to use twitlonger but it’s either not currently functioning or I’m just too much of a boomer to figure it out.
This is my farewell to the esports scene for my org: FXP Esports. As of July 19, 2023 we have stopped operations and have released our staff and last roster FXP Bearify, our GC team.
Life has a funny way of telling you it’s time to make
some changes and to shift priorities around. I like to think I’ve got a good
handle on my time management for my short-term goals, but lately my long-term
goals have been all I could think about. My dreams, my thoughts, my emotions,
and even my conversations seem to be centered around long-term goals. I may be
stubborn in my ways, but a simple reminder of the uncertainty and mystery of
the future can provoke realizations and insight to the structure and direction
of one’s life. I am not trying to get philosophical here so I’ll leave it at
that and say that there are things I would like to accomplish in my life which
requires sacrifices – This org (FXP Esports) being one of them.
Being an org owner was not an easy task, I was good
at some things but also had my fair share of struggles though I avoided
projecting my frustrations. Since our start in 2010, I could have given up so
many times – I’ve had to deal with roster, staff, and structure changes, not to
mention drama as well as HR nightmares; they can be mentally and emotionally
It’s a bittersweet situation I find myself in, but I
have no regrets and am eagerly looking forward to pursuing my dreams. Running
FXP Esports has exposed to me some of my weaknesses and strengths as well as
opportunities to correct or build upon them; those experiences are invaluable.
I would like to give a big shoutout to all the staff
we’ve had over the years, you have all been anchors and sails – depending on
what situations called for. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for dealing
with me, for providing your valuable time and skillset to building and
expanding the organization. You have been such a blessing and I am eternally
Lastly, but certainly not least I would like to thank
our players from every roster iteration throughout the years, this includes our
GC and former academy team rosters. “You”
are the stars of the show and the heart of FXP Esports — I tried my best to
remind you whenever I could. Thank you for trusting FXP Esports to provide the
tools and guidance to help you grow as players, gamers, and individuals. We’ve
only ever wanted to see you all succeed and grow through the experience of
esports competition. It has been an honor to be part of your journeys, even if
we may have bumped heads or things did not work out.
I don’t want this news to bring sadness to anyone’s
day… as this one quote says… don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it
happened. We had some amazing moments and built some great friendships along
I’m not disappearing though. I’ll still be around to
enjoy some casual gaming here and there so don’t be a stranger – say hi!
Thank you for taking the time to read this long
message. If I could leave you with something to think about, it would be to
tell you that sometimes you need to live in the moment and “For the experience(s)”.
Thank you to those who made all of this possible. I apologize if I left anyone out – it was not
